Ms. Yoshie Tokuyama ( a fictional name)
Female Age: 81 a manger of a restaurant Temporary house in Kobe City
The season of fresh green has come. Thank you very much for your usual
kind letters.
Three and half years has now passed since The Great Hanshin-Awaji
Earthquake. There are people who are still taking us to heart. Thinking of
that brings tears to my eyes.
It’s a great encouragement that there are people which lend their ears to
the aged like me, a 81-year-old, though young people must be occupied by
their business and couldn’t afford to think of the old. The older we are
getting, the less we can write and talk, which is a sad thing. Oh, I
shouldn’t have grumbled. I’m sorry.
In future taking care not to make myself ill, I’ll hang on as long as I
live, not to make a nuisance of myself any more.
I’m deeply grateful to all people who always help me. Many students and
the youth are kind enough to take care of me. On 15th January,
Coming-of-Age Day, a student volunteer died. What different lives we live!
Please take good care of yourselves, young people.
I wish you, all tender-hearted, good health.
( June 1998 )
